PNP
Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Prince Edward Island Issued Invitations to Apply for Provincial Immigration
Recently, three provinces have issued invitations for candidates to submit applications for provincial nomination. In 1998, the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) was created to allow provinces to nominate economic immigrants.
Each year, the federal government discloses the total number of PNP nominations and distributes it across the provinces under the Immigration Levels Plan. By 2025, the current immigration levels strategy is to admit 117,500 new permanent residents annually under the PNP. The only province in Canada without a PNP that chooses all of its economic immigrants is Quebec. This is because the province and the federal government have a special agreement.
Highlights of the Draw – Who was Invited?
Alberta
In the month of April, the province of Alberta held two draws. The draws issued invitation to candidates having Express Entry profiles.
On April 5, the first draw issued invitations to 53 candidates under the category of Designated Healthcare Pathway. To qualify in the Alberta Job Offer stream, the candidates required to score between 300-600. On April 18, the second draw issued invitations to 68 candidates under the category of Agriculture occupation. To qualify in the Alberta Job offer stream, the candidates required a score between 300-700.
Saskatchewan
On April 20, the PNP of Saskatchewan (SINP), issued invitations to 1067 candidates.  The province’s Saskatchewan Immigrant Nominee Program (SINP) invited 444 candidates from the Occupation-In-Demand category. The remaining 623 were invited through Express Entry. To qualify, candidates required to score 69 in the draw.
This was the first SINP draw in a month, resulting in a considerably larger number of nominations than March 23 draw.
Prince Edward Island
On April 20, Prince Edward Island (PEI) issued 189 invitations. A total of 180 candidates received invitations under the Labour and Express Entry stream. While, the remaining ones got invitations under the Business and Entrepreneur stream. To qualify, the candidates required a score of 72.
This draw signifies a return to the province’s typical draw pattern. Every month, PEI conducts PNP lotteries; however, in March, the province invited candidates in three draws, the final of which was held on March 30.
