Quebec Held a New Round of the RSWP Draw, Inviting 1,633 Candidates
The Ministry of Immigration, Francization, and Integration (MIFI) held the latest draw under the Quebec Regular Skilled Worker Program (RSWP) on July 20, 2023. This was the province’s tenth RSWP draw, which sought individuals with legitimate academic and work experience in a high-demand career occupation.
Highlights of the Quebec’s RSWP Draw
The tenth Regular Skilled Worker Program (RSWP) invited 1,633 candidates to apply for permanent residence in Quebec. Potential candidates must have at least 596 points on their profiles in the Arrima Expression of Interest (EOI) system to be eligible for the draw. They also had an in-demand job offer from a location outside of the Montréal Metropolitan Area.
Decisions to invite candidates to apply for permanent selection were made under section 45 of the Quebec Immigration Act based on invitation criteria. The candidates who got invites in the most recent Quebec draw must meet the following eligibility requirements:
- They had oral French proficiency at level 7 or higher, according to the Échelle québécoise des niveaux de compétence en français des personnes immigrantes adultes (Québec scale of French proficiency levels for adult immigrants).
- They received at least 596 points.
- They had a genuine job offer from outside the Montréal Metropolitan Community.
Applying for Canada PR Under Quebec RSWP
To apply for Canada PR under the Quebec RSWP, you’ll need to follow these steps:
Step 1: Getting a Quebec Selection Certificate
The first step is to build an EOI profile on the Arrima Portal only after knowing your eligibility. Once you are done with it, you may be required to submit a few details of qualifications, skills, and intent to settle in Quebec. The submission of EOI shows that you are interested in immigrating to Quebec. Please note that information on your EOI will determine whether Quebec will invite you to apply for the CSQ.
Step 2: Submission of CSQ
If your EOI is selected, there is a possibility that you will receive an Invitation to Apply. This is an opportunity to fill out and submit a complete application with supporting documents to prove your eligibility.
Step 3: Assessment and Selection
The provincial government (Quebec immigration authorities) will assess your application based on the program-specific criteria and selection factors. If you meet the requirements, you may be issued a Quebec Selection Certificate (CSQ).
STEP 4: Apply for Canada PR with IRCC
After obtaining the CSQ, you must apply for Canada PR with the federal Department of Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). For this, you need to create an account on the IRCC website and fill out the PR application form.
Step 5: Medical and Police Clearance Certificate
Once you obtain a CSQ, you will need to undergo additional processing by the federal government like security and medical checks.
Step 6: Entry to Permanent Residency
Finally, after receiving the CSQ, you can apply to the Government of Canada for permanent residency. If successful, you will be allowed to live and work in Quebec permanently.
