British Columbia Tech Pilot Draw Held On December 15
With 2020 drawing to a close, the Canadian provinces are organizing their final draws. British Columbia recently distributed invitations among eligible candidates on December 15. The Tech Pilot draw targeted candidates belonging to the Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC streams.
What is the Tech Pilot?
The Tech Pilot under the British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program was introduced in 2017 to offer assistance to employers. The objective of the program is to attract eligible immigrants who work in the Information Technology sector. This pilot makes the immigration process simpler for international students and intentional tech workers.
The BC PNP is known to send out Tech Pilot invitations every week to eligible candidates. The main requirement is that they should have a valid job offer for at least a year in any of the 29 listed occupations. The Express Entry candidates who are nominated by the province have 600 extra points added to their CRS score which gives them an advantage in the race towards permanent residence.
Details of the draw
The candidates who were selected during the December 15 draw required a provincial score of at least 80. The categories targeted by the draw included Skilled Worker and International Graduate under Skills Immigration, and Skilled Worker and International Graduate under Express Entry British Columbia or EEBC.
The Skills Immigration stream is ideal for semi-skilled and skilled workers who work in professions that are in high demand in British Columbia. On the other hand, the EEBC is aimed at candidates who have registered profiles in the government’s Express Entry pool.
