With the rise in the number of international students in Canadian schools, there is now a need for free beds, more spacious classrooms, and public forums to provide advice on how to make things easier for international students. Canadian post-secondary institutions are proud of their popularity amongst international students who are arriving in greater numbers every year. With the help of international students, Canadian universities and colleges are able to their programs, and also boost their revenues. There is more diversity on the campus, and this enriches the post-secondary experience for the entire batch.

Canada recently decided to allow some leniency towards international students, so they are able to pursue their higher education in the country. Canada expanded the Student Direct Stream (SDS) and included three additional nations, namely Senegal, Morocco, and Pakistan. The development happened back in 2019. Under the SDS program, students from the aforementioned countries, the Philippines, China, India, and Vietnam will acquire study permits within a period of 20 days. The international student population in Canada has doubled since 2012 to include more than 570,000 students in 2018. With this significant growth, there is also more emphasis on settlement and integration needs of the international population. International students might find it difficult to adapt to a new country unless they are extended a helping hand. The University of Windsor in Ontario recently hosted a forum providing guidance about how to support international students. It stressed on how the students should be helped in their search for a job or quest for permanent residency.
