Saskatchewan Leads the Way
A recent Statistics Canada report sheds light on the retention of immigrants across Canadian provinces and territories. Saskatchewan, along with Canada’s Prairie provinces and the three territories, emerges as a frontrunner in retaining immigrants who choose to settle in this region. The cumulative probability of immigrants remaining in Canada 20 years after admission reveals Saskatchewan’s impressive retention rate of 84.7%. This places Saskatchewan among the top provinces for immigrant retention, surpassing even economic powerhouses like Ontario.
Factors Influencing Immigration Retention
Various factors contribute to the decision of immigrants to stay in Canada. Key observations include:
- The presence of children in the tax family significantly reduces the propensity to emigrate.
- Married and common-law immigrants exhibit a lower likelihood of emigration compared to their single counterparts.
- Entrepreneurs and highly educated individuals are more likely to emigrate than those with less education and stable employment.
As a new SINP draw sets the stage for the year, the program is poised to be a vital player in achieving Canada’s immigration targets. With a commitment to selecting candidates with diverse skills and educational backgrounds, SINP continues to be a gateway for individuals aspiring to make Saskatchewan their home.
