Ontario Invites 212 French-Speaking Candidates Through OINP
On June 20, 2024, the Ontario Immigration Nominee Program (OINP) conducted its second round of invitations for the Express Entry French-Speaking Skilled Worker stream. In this latest draw, the OINP issued 212 Notifications of Interest (NOIs) to Francophone candidates, reinforcing Ontario’s commitment to attracting French-speaking talent to the province.
Candidates who received NOIs had Comprehensive Ranking Scores (CRS) ranging from 305 to 409 points. The Express Entry profiles of these candidates were created between June 20, 2023, and June 20, 2024, indicating that the OINP is targeting recent applicants with strong language skills and other qualifications.
This draw is part of Ontario’s ongoing efforts to attract and retain French-speaking immigrants. By focusing on Francophone candidates, Ontario aims to enhance the linguistic diversity of the province and support the growth of Francophone communities. French-speaking immigrants contribute significantly to the cultural richness and economic vitality of Ontario, making them valuable additions to the workforce.
So far in 2024, Ontario has invited a total of 26,609 candidates under the OINP. This substantial number reflects the province’s proactive approach to meeting labor market needs and supporting economic growth through targeted immigration streams. The OINP’s French-Speaking Skilled Worker stream is particularly important for addressing specific skill shortages and fostering bilingualism within the province.
The Express Entry system, which manages applications for three federal economic immigration programs – the Federal Skilled Worker Program, the Federal Skilled Trades Program, and the Canadian Experience Class – serves as the foundation for these invitations. The French-Speaking Skilled Worker stream allows Ontario to select candidates from the Express Entry pool who have strong French language skills, along with other qualifications that align with the province’s labor market needs.
By inviting French-speaking candidates, Ontario not only strengthens its workforce but also supports the federal government’s goal of increasing Francophone immigration outside of Quebec. This initiative aligns with Canada’s broader objectives of promoting bilingualism and supporting Francophone minority communities across the country.
The recent draw underscores the importance of language skills in the immigration process and highlights Ontario’s dedication to creating a diverse and inclusive society. French-speaking immigrants bring unique perspectives and skills that contribute to the province’s social and economic development.
As Ontario continues to prioritize the recruitment of French-speaking skilled workers, the province is poised to benefit from the diverse talents and cultural contributions of Francophone immigrants. This targeted approach ensures that Ontario remains a vibrant and competitive destination for newcomers from around the world.
