Manitoba Invites 163 Candidates Through Two MPNP Streams

On June 21, 2024, Manitoba held its latest invitation round (#221) under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP), extending invitations to 163 candidates. This round featured invitations in two streams: the Skilled Workers Overseas (SWO) stream and the International Education Stream.
In the Skilled Workers Overseas stream, MPNP issued 52 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) to candidates under the Strategic Recruitment Initiative. The lowest score among these candidates was 721 points. This stream targets skilled workers who can meet the labor market needs of Manitoba, helping to bolster the province’s workforce with qualified international talent.
The International Education Stream, which focuses on international graduates from Manitoba’s post-secondary institutions, saw 111 invitations issued. This stream aims to retain skilled and educated individuals who have already integrated into the local community and economy through their studies.
In this round, Manitoba included 31 Express Entry candidates among the 163 invited. The Express Entry system is a federal immigration pathway that manages applications for permanent residence from skilled workers. Including Express Entry candidates in the provincial nominee program helps ensure a diverse and highly skilled immigrant population in Manitoba.
So far in 2024, the MPNP has invited a total of 4,658 candidates, with 639 of these invitations going to Express Entry candidates. This continued effort highlights Manitoba’s commitment to attracting skilled workers and graduates to support the province’s economic growth and development.
The MPNP is a key component of Manitoba’s immigration strategy, designed to address the province’s labor market needs and demographic challenges. By inviting candidates through various streams, the program aims to create a balanced and sustainable immigration system that benefits both the local economy and the newcomers who choose to make Manitoba their home.
The Manitoba government continues to focus on strategic recruitment and the retention of international students, recognizing the valuable contributions these individuals can make to the community. The regular invitation rounds reflect the province’s proactive approach to immigration and its dedication to meeting its economic and social objectives through targeted and effective immigration policies.
