Canada Issues 1,499 Invitations in Latest PNP-Targeted Express Entry Draw

Canada continues its push to attract skilled immigrants through its Provincial Nominee Program (PNP), as evidenced by the latest Express Entry draw held on June 19, 2024. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 1,499 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in this PNP-targeted draw, marking the second such draw of the year.

In this 298th round of invitations, IRCC set the cut-off score at 663 points, a notable 13-point decrease from the previous PNP-targeted draw. This lower threshold potentially opens doors for a broader range of qualified candidates, reflecting Canada’s commitment to meeting its ambitious immigration targets.

The tie-breaking rule for this round was applied to profiles submitted before January 19, 2024, at 10:10:40 UTC, ensuring a fair selection process for candidates with identical scores.

The latest draw contributes to an already robust year for Canadian immigration. In 2024, Canada has issued a total of 43,454 invitations through regular Express Entry draws, demonstrating the country’s unwavering commitment to welcoming skilled newcomers despite global challenges.

“These targeted draws allow us to address specific labor market needs across our provinces and territories,” said Minister of Immigration, Sean Fraser. “By leveraging the PNP within our Express Entry system, we’re ensuring that the right skills are reaching the communities that need them most.”

The Provincial Nominee Program plays a crucial role in Canada’s immigration strategy, allowing provinces and territories to nominate candidates who possess skills and experience that align with their specific economic needs. This targeted approach helps distribute the benefits of immigration across the country, supporting regional development and addressing local labor shortages.

As Canada continues to refine its immigration processes, these regular Express Entry draws serve as a testament to the country’s proactive approach to building a skilled and diverse workforce. For prospective immigrants, each draw represents an opportunity to contribute to Canada’s growing economy and vibrant communities.
