Ontario Hosts PNP Draw For French Speaking Skilled Workers
The Canadian province of Ontario organised a new draw in March 2021. The draw targeted French-speaking candidates in the Express Entry pool. The people who received invitations will now be able to submit applications for a provincial nomination.
Provincial Nominee Programs let Canadian provinces issue invitations to immigration candidates who could integrate into the regional labor market with ease. New immigrants are comfortable as provincial nominees since they are clearer about their role in the economy.
Details of the draw
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program or the OINP issued 126 invitations in March via the French-Speaking Skilled Worker or FSSW stream. The minimum CRS score required by the candidates in order to qualify ranged from 455 to 467.
The people who had created their Express Entry profiles in the period between March 2020, and March 2021, were considered in this draw.
The previous FSSW draw took place on January 14 in which a total of 146 candidates were invited. After the March draw, the total number of people invited by Ontario under this stream in 2021 comes to 271. Candidates can submit their applications within 45 days after receiving the invitation.
Express Entry candidates aim to receive a provincial nomination because they are automatically awarded 600 extra points. As a result, they have a higher chance of receiving an invitation to apply for permanent residence as compared to other candidates in the pool.
