IRCC Invited 589 PNP Candidates in Its Twelfth Express Entry Draw
Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held its twelfth Express Entry draw for the year 2023. The draw issued invitations to 589 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 691 to apply for permanent residence. The draw was program-specific.
The draw invited candidates already in the Express entry pool and also having provincial nominations. In 2023, this was the twelfth program-specific draw; the previous held on March 1, invited 667 candidates.
The IRCC Updated Proof of Funds for Express Entry Candidates
Recently on May 2, IRCC changed the proof of funds amount for the Express Entry candidates as part of their application. The changes to the recent update got in effect on April 25. Every year, the IRCC changes the amount of proof of funds. The IRCC uses 50% of the low-income cut off amounts to determine the amount.
To be eligible, you must do the following:
- update the settlement fund amount in your Express Entry profile;
- demonstrate that you have the means to live comfortably in Canada.
Any applicant who receives an invitation to apply (ITA) right after an Express Entry draw must be able to support a documented evidence of funds. However, candidates from the Canadian Experience Class and Express Entry requirements are excluded if they have genuine employment offers and permission to work in Canada. For the other two Express Entry programs – Federal Skilled Worker Program and Federal Skilled Trades Program, you must show financial proof. Additionally, depending on the size of the candidate’s family, a different amount of money may be needed.

That means, Express Entry draws held weekly throughout March. In 2023, the Provincial Nominee Program drawings were primarily program-specific between January and February. However, on February 2 IRCC staged the Federal Skilled Workers Program’s first-ever program-specific draw.
