Immigration Announcement
Arrima Allows Online Application Submissions From PEQ Candidates
Quebec wants to invite more than 45,000 newcomers in 2021 in order to make up for last year somewhat. It will no longer be possible for applicants to the Programme de l’expérience québécoise or the Quebec Experience Program to submit paper-based applications.
Starting from 26th January, Quebec is shifting to a completely virtual application submission system. If you are a prospective candidate, you will have to send in your application through the Arrima platform.
What is Arrima?
The Ministère de l’Immigration, de la Francisation et de l’Intégration (MIFI) introduced Arrima as a virtual platform for applicants to submit their expression of interests. Foreign nationals interested in moving to Quebec via the Quebec Skilled Worker Program were able to convey their wish via Arrima.
The aim was to hasten the processing of applications and allow the province to choose candidates best suited for the gaps in the provincial labor market. Today, Arrima is a modern multifunctional immigration tool for Quebec. Candidates belonging to all major immigration programs offered by the province can access Arrima.
Online Submissions
Quebec began accepting online applications from PEQ candidates from 12th January 2021 but it continued to accept paper-based applications simultaneously. However, that is going to stop now. From 26th January, applicants can submit their applications exclusively via Arrima. This change will also be applicable for candidates in the Quebec Foreign Student Program.
The coronavirus pandemic has revealed that virtual processes prove to be extremely convenient for people all over the world. Hence, the province is making this shift to online submissions. Quebec is going to launch three permanent immigration pilots very soon and even they will require electronic applications.
