British Columbia Hosted New Tech Pilot Draw to Issue 52 Invitation

British Columbia is one of the most popular provinces for immigrants looking to settle in Canada. With its wealth of opportunities, the province manages to attract thousands of applicants every year. Since 2020 reduced immigration numbers, Canada has been trying to reach higher targets this year. British Columbia, to that end, has been organizing regular draws to invite skilled candidates. The latest draw took place on June 29 via the Tech Pilot.

What is the Tech Pilot?

British Columbia launched the Tech Pilot back in May 2017 in an effort to increase access to talented workers for the technology sector. The popularity of the program year after year recently led British Columbia to make it permanent. The Tech Pilot acts as a fast-track immigration program for international students and tech workers. Candidates have to be registered in one of the province’s existing immigration streams and hold a valid job offer in any of the 29 eligible professions if they want to use the Tech Pilot.

Details of the draw

A total of 52 skilled candidates received invitations in the BC PNP Tech Draw held on June 29. The province has invited 5,782 immigration candidates so far in 2021 via the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). The selected candidates work in the IT sector, and they will be able to submit their applications for a provincial nomination.

The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) targets candidates who already fulfill the requirements of either the Express Entry BC or the Skills immigration categories during Tech draws. The June 29 draw saw candidates belonging to the Skilled Worker and International Graduate subcategories receiving invitations. The provincial score cutoff was 80.
