British Columbia invited 230 candidates

Review of the BC PNP draw – July 25, 2023

General – Tech Draw

A total of 175 ITAs were given to applicants in the general draw after the BC PNP held rounds of invitations. Skilled workers and international graduates received invites that included the EEBC option. Candidates have to receive a score between 87 and 109 in order to be considered.

Targeted Draw – Childcare, Healthcare, and Other in-Demand Professions

The Canadian province also sent out invites to candidates in the targeted professions. To the targeted draw for skills immigration, the category attracted a total of 55 applicants.

The distribution of invitations for British Columbia’s Skills Immigration Targeted Draw is as follows:

  • A minimum score of 60 was required for the invitation of 30 Early Childhood Educators and Assistants (NOC 42202);
  • The category issued invitations to 20 Healthcare workers with a minimum score of 60; and
  • A total of 5 candidates were invited to the other in-demand occupations (NOCs 31103, 32104)

With few exclusions, British Columbia issues ITAs to qualified candidates every week. The requirements of the BC PNP application inventory at the time of the invitation round dictate the frequency, size, and date of the most recent draw.

The following factors may be used to target invitations to apply to the Skills Immigration streams in a draw:

  • Education level,
  • field, and location of schooling;
  • Professional designations acceptable in British Columbia;
  • Language proficiency;
  • Profession;
  • Duration and level of work experience;
  • Wage and/or skill level of job offer
  • Desire to work, live, and establish oneself in a particular area
  • Strategic priorities – elements that support government pilot programs and initiatives or meet specific labor market requirements in British Columbia

The following point grid, known as the BC PNP points calculator, is used by the British Columbia Skills Immigration Ranking system to rank applicants who have registered profiles. Only those applicants who receive the highest-level invitations to apply for the Skills Immigration stream will be selected.
