Immigration Announcement
Quebec Plans New Pilots To Fulfill Labor Shortages

All the Canadian provinces are going out of their way to accommodate immigrants at this time of the new normal. Canada is releasing new immigration programs and pilots that will benefit applicants in the days to come.
Quebec is no exception as its provincial government recently released information about three upcoming pilots that will be put into action by early 2021. These are permanent immigration programs and will give more opportunities to eligible candidates to settle down in Quebec. The government is aiming to get feedback about the programs for 45 days before launching them in an official capacity.
Who will the new programs benefit?
The details of the three programs were first published in the Gazette officielle du Québec in the form of a draft regulation in late October. However, the pilots had been announced by the province earlier in the year.
The three permanent programs will cater to three specific groups of candidates. Namely,
- Orderlies
- Professionals in the IT, AI, or visual effects sectors
- Workers in the food processing industry
The government of Quebec wants to utilize these three new programs to meet the labor shortages in the province, specifically in these three industries. It is important to not only attract but also retain the workers who have the skill set to meet the requirements of the Quebec labor market. All of them will continue for the next five years and pick up to 550 eligible candidates every year.
Along with the introduction of these new programs, the province has also decided to implement some major changes to the application intake regulations. There might also be some new rules to follow for applicants in the Entrepreneur Program and the Self-Employed Worker Program.
