Quebec distributes invitations to skilled worker candidates who have an Arrima profile
Quebec has been in the immigration news for a while now because of successive controversies, but the province has again begun its process of attracting new immigrants. The province has begun to issue its first invitations to candidates under the Quebec Skilled Worker Program who already have their own Expression of Interest profiles in the Quebec’s Arrima system.
The candidates who received invitations were notified via email on 4th July. The people who have got invitations will now have to complete the process. They have a time of two months, which is 60 days, to submit the entire application for the Quebec Selection Certificate.
Quebec came up with the Arrima system back in September 2018 in order to handle the pool of candidates under the Quebec Skilled Worker Program (QSWP). The candidates are supposed to use Arrima when creating their Expression of Interest profile. This is then submitted into the bank of candidates who are registered in the QSWP. According to the Government of Quebec, the first invitations issued through Arrima will give priority to candidates who already have a validated job offer from an employer in Quebec. Candidates who satisfy the following conditions will also get an advantage.
- They had their applications for the Quebec Selection Certificate terminated on 16th June, 2019. They must have been temporary residents of Quebec from the time of applying.
- They had the applications for their Quebec Selection Certificates terminated on 16th June, 2019 while they were working or studying in Quebec.
The date, 16th June, is extremely important because that was when the new reforms related to Quebec’s immigration laws were sanctioned. As a result, around 16,000 pending applications addressed to the QSWP were cancelled.
Candidates who satisfy the condition of any of the two prioritized groups will be able to create an Arrima profile until 16th December 16, 2019.
