Ontario gives international students a chance to apply to advantageous stream
The Canadian province of Ontario opened applications on August 19 for the Employer Job Offer: International Student Stream. Once the registration began, Canada ended up closing applications within 25 minutes. The stream was meant to cater to international students who hold job offers and want to secure provincial nominations that would help them get permanent residence in the future.
Details:
According to sources, the Employer Job Offer: International Student stream opened at 10:00 a.m. and had to be closed at 10:25 a.m. EST. Ontario has announced that registration for this particular stream will now be closed until further notice.
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) planned to accept applications on August 19 for the Employer Job Offer: International Student stream. They are not accepting applications to the Foreign Worker or Masters Graduate streams as of now. OINP had warned that the foreign worker stream registration link was going to be active for technical and testing purposes.
Directions provided by the OINP
The OINP had announced beforehand that the applications would open sometime between 9 a.m. EST and 5 p.m. EST for international student graduates. OINP had expected that the opening period would be a mad rush and they were correct. On the day of the submission, the seats filled up within 25 minutes.
In a media release before August 19, OINP said that candidates could be placed in a priority queue or receive a high volume message because of the large number of users who would be accessing the system. They warned that it should not be treated as a technical error, and candidates need not contact OINP.
Interested applicants were advised to access the OINP e-Filing Portal from the page dedicated to the Employer Job Offer: International Student stream on the OINP website.
