Nova Scotia immigration

Nova Scotia is inviting more people who can contribute to the province’s economy. With more job diversification and labor needs, the province has expanded its scope for the Nova Scotia Nominee Program and Express Entry. Nova Scotia has different immigration programs available for potential applicants.

The latest PNP draw saw the province inviting 330 Express Entry candidates. You can qualify if you meet the required skills and work experience, age, academic qualifications, and language proficiency.

Why immigrate to Nova Scotia?

For students from India, China, and the Philippines, there is a Study and Stay Program. Students can work and settle after completing graduation. Doctors and medical staff can look to immigrate if they get a job offer from Nova Scotia Health Authority or the IWK Health Centre.

With labor force in short supply, there are plenty of opportunities for semi-skilled and low-skilled workers. Apart from them, other occupations that are high on demand include kitchen helpers, heavy equipment operators, pilots, nurses, transport drivers, restaurant attendants, and construction helpers.

Nova Scotia is also a paradise for entrepreneurs. NSNP is also prioritizing people who want to start a new business or invest in existing businesses. You need to get an Expression of Interest from the province first and should have a minimum net worth of $600,000. You also need to make a minimum investment of $150,000.

How to Immigrate to Nova Scotia?

For applying through Express Entry, you need to have a decent Comprehensive Ranking System score. And you do not need to have a job offer for applying for this.

However, if you do have one, it will fetch you additional 600 points!

Some of the basic criteria that remain the same for all applicants are –

  • You should be between 21-55 years, possess at least one year of experience in a National Occupational Classification position in Nova Scotia, and be fluent in English or French.
  • Get yourself registered in the Canada Express Entry pool.

Nova Scotia is also allowing immigration through Labor Market Priorities where you can seek it for specific occupational skills. You do not require a job offer from the country but you should possess the required work experience, and be eligible for the other requirements.
