Provincial Nomination

In the most recent rounds of provincial nominee programs (PNP), the provinces of Ontario, British Columbia, and Manitoba invited candidates to apply for provincial immigration.

The country has a number of provincial and territorial nomination programs (PNPs). However, in Quebec and Nunavut, PNPs operate in a distinct manner. Quebec is the only province that has control over all economic class immigrants.

Under these programs, interested candidates may be invited to apply for their provincial nomination. Receiving a provincial nomination can be a valuable step toward attaining permanent residency. A total of 105,000 PR admissions are made every year under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Since its inception in 1998, the number of PNP admissions has steadily increased. It has been viewed by both the federal and provincial governments as an effective tool for promoting economic development outside of urban areas.
