Increasing interest in immigrating to Canada during the coronavirus pandemic

A new survey by the World Education Services finds that people’s wishes of immigrating to Canada have actually increased even more after the peak of the pandemic in April. It seems that the coronavirus pandemic is not doing anything to deter people from wanting their immigration journey to Canada.

Going by the survey, it is having the opposite effect instead and encouraging more people to consider Canada as their immigration destination.

Back in June, almost half of the respondents included in the survey conducted by World Education Services (WES) said that the pandemic had increased their interest in immigrating to Canada. In fact, more people shared a similar interest in June as compared to a similar survey carried out in April.

WES specializes in providing educational credential assessments to candidates who want to participate in economic-class immigration to Canada. They find that they are able to understand the motivations of aspiring immigrants since they meet with thousands of interested candidates.

More people have said that the pandemic has had a positive effect on their interest in immigrating to Canada, and much fewer people have reported that they were dissuaded. About 45% of respondents in June said that they want to immigrate to Canada even more now in the aftermath of the pandemic. Only 6% reported that their interest had declined.

Moreover, fewer people said that they are looking to delay their immigration to Canada. Around 32% of respondents reported that they are thinking of delaying their immigration as compared to the 35% who reported the same in April.

The WES survey concluded that a large number of respondents were basing their decision on the expectations that the economic impact of the pandemic would be less extreme in Canada than in their home countries.
