Immigrate to Canada from the U.S

Canada is climbing up with its immigration targets to 1.3 million people in 2022-2024, with many possibilities for potential immigrants like Americans. If the immigrants from the U.S are planning to immigrate to Canada, then they must know that there are over 100 immigration routes to choose from in Canadian Immigration Pathways. Hence, the country welcomes newcomers through the most popular immigration pathways, which are;

Express Entry

Canada’s Express Entry immigration program is the fastest and most popular option for newcomers. Candidates that apply under this system can receive their permanent residency status as soon as six months later. Over the next three years, Canada plans to invite over 240,000 immigrants through the three Canadian immigration streams of the Express Entry Plan.

With the introduction of Express Entry’s digital application management system, the three leading Canadian immigration programs for individuals immigrating to Canada from the U.S are:

Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) is one of the most popular and successful pathways for immigrants living and working in Canada. To qualify for permanent residency, the candidates must have a minimum experience of one year, a CLB of 7 for the jobs placed under National Occupational Classification (NOC) A, and a CLB of 5 for the jobs falling under the NOC B category.

Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)

Federal Skilled Worker Program is an immigration route for applicants who have never worked or studied in Canada. To qualify under this program, the candidate needs to have regular experience as a skilled worker for a year, a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 7 in either English or French and education qualification. The candidate must also score at least 67 points out of 100 on the FSWP scorecard.

Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)

The program opens a pathway for skilled trades workers to get the status of permanent residents of Canada. To be eligible under FSTP, the candidate needs to have a minimum of two years of skilled trades work experience within the five years before applying and a minimum CLB of 5 for speaking and listening and 4 for reading and writing in English or French

Provincial Nominee Programs (PNP)

This year, Canada plans to welcome 84,000 immigrants through PNPs. Thus, immigrants to Canada from the U.S can choose to immigrate to Canada in 2022. However, many different nominee programs have varying eligibility criteria for Canada’s ten provinces, except Quebec and Nunavut. For example, some programs require connections with the province to apply, while others accept international applicants under their own authority.

PNP programs: ‘Enhanced Programs’ and ‘Base Programs’.

Where Enhanced programs are managed by the Express Entry system. Qualifying applicants will be invited to apply for a provincial nomination. If you are nominated, you will receive additional 600 points and which also guarantees that you will receive an ITA in the subsequent Express Entry draw. Base Programs is an option for Non-Express Entry candidates applying for immigration to Canada. If met with eligibility criteria, you will get a nomination and then can apply for Permanent Residence.

Family – Class Sponsorship

Americans, if one of your immediate family members lives in Canada permanently, you may get Canadian immigration in 2022 through the Family-class sponsorship program. If you have a spouse who is a permanent resident or citizen of Canada, you’re eligible for family sponsorship. Canadians can also sponsor their both biological and adopted children if they are under the age of 22

Business Immigration

If you have experience managing or owning your own business in the U.S, the quickest way to Canadian immigration might be through a federal or provincial business immigration program.

Business immigration programs typically require a substantial investment in the company you plan to start in Canada. The amount required will depend on the business immigration program you are interested in. Many PNPs have regional entrepreneur programs that allow people who want to start a business in a less populated area to do so with less money.
