Employment in Canada Hits Pre-Pandemic Levels in September

Employment in Canada suffered due to the pandemic, and the figures dipped fairly low. However, the Canadian economy has now entered its recovery process after successful vaccination campaigns.
September turned out to be a fruitful month for Canadian employment because it finally went back to its pre-pandemic levels. This is a good sign for existing and potential workers. The economy gained 157,000 jobs in September, as a result of which the employment rate rose to within a percentage point of February levels. In September, the employment rate in Canada was 60.9% which is 0.9% below the February 2020 rate.
The unemployment rate has continued to decline for four consecutive months, and it shows that Canada has made a lot of progress since the days of the pandemic. It fell to 6.9% in September, which is the lowest that it has been since the beginning of the pandemic.
How are immigrants faring?
Recent immigrants are still enjoying a high employment rate, and the number is going up consistently on an upward trend. The employment rate of recent immigrants was 71% in September. Immigrants who have been staying in Canada for over five years had an employment rate of about 59% in September 2021 which is satisfactory.
There has been a significant rise in the number of new employees in professional, technical and scientific services even during the pandemic. Other sectors that have experienced a similar sustained employment growth during the pandemic months include finance, real estate, insurance, rental and leasing.
