Canada planning to resume the parents and grandparents immigration program
Permanent residents and Canadian citizens can be relieved because they will soon be able to offer sponsorship to their parents and grandparents (PGP – Immigration Program) who want to immigrate to Canada.
IRCC has provided the dates for the PGP intake 2020. The opening was already delayed in the spring because of the pandemic. Candidates will have to submit their applications if they want to be sponsors for their parents and grandparents (PGP – Immigration Program). This will make the immigration process easier.
What should you do?
It should be kept in mind that these applications do not cater to the PGP itself. Instead, they provide the opportunity for people to capitalize on their interest in sponsoring their family members who are interested in Canadian immigration.
Immigration Program, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) usually selects potential sponsors randomly and sends invitations allowing them to submit their applications. The chosen applicants will be able to submit their completed sponsorship application by 60 days.
Current plans
IRCC is planning to accept a maximum of 10,000 applications this year. In 2021, they will open a new intake of interest to sponsor process so they can accept another 30,000 new applications.
IRCC has also come up with a temporary public policy in order to reduce the income requirement for the current tax year to just the minimum necessary income. This will benefit people who have already been negatively impacted because of the coronavirus pandemic.
