Parents And Grandparents Program Is Now Open For 2020
If you are interested in applying to sponsor your parents and grandparents for their arrival in Canada, you should start making arrangements because the Parents and Grandparents Program (PGP) is now open for 2020. The expression of interest period began on October 13th and will continue for three weeks until November 3rd.
Where to begin?
You can begin the process of sponsoring your parents or grandparents and helping their immigration to Canada easier by applying virtually.
This PGP allows eligible permanent residents, Canadian citizens those with First Nations status above the age of 18, to provide sponsorship to their parents and grandparents for permanent residence in Canada. The Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is aiming at 10,000 complete PGP applications for the year.
How should you go about it?
Your first step should be to submit a sponsorship interest form online during the ongoing submission period. Then, you will be taken into consideration for an invitation to apply. Applicants can complete the form until November 3 so that they qualify for the draw. Once you complete your interest to sponsor form, you have to wait to find out if you are among the 10,000 applications that IRCC will draw randomly for sending invitations to apply.
If you happen to receive an invitation to apply, you will have to pay the required application fees and complete your sponsorship application in the next 60 days. You will be eligible to receive an application package that will include forms to be filled by you and the person you want to sponsor, a document checklist, and an instruction guide. When an applicant is sending their application from Quebec, it is mandatory for them to secure a Quebec Selection Certificate from the provincial Quebec government and submit it with the application.
