British Columbia Hosts New Provincial Nominee Tech Pilot Draw
The Canadian province of British Columbia has earned a reputation for being a haven of professional opportunities for immigrants. This year, the province wants to increase its usual immigrant intake in order to help Canada meet its target newcomer goal.
On July 13, the province held its latest draw targeted towards immigration candidates who are professionally engaged in important technology occupations. The selected candidates will be able to submit their applications for provincial nomination. This was a Tech draw which means that the candidates had to satisfy the eligibility requirements of either of the existing immigration categories in the province.
What is Tech Pilot?
The BC PNP Tech was initially introduced as a pilot but its massive popularity has led the province to make it a permanent program. It acts as a fast-track immigration pathway to temporary workers and foreign students who have the skills to be successful in the tech industry. It is important for them to be eligible for any of the 29 professions listed by the province under the Tech Pilot.
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) controls the Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC categories and candidates have to be eligible for either in order to get an invitation via the Tech program. For the July 13 draw, BC PNP targeted candidates from the International Graduate and Skilled Worker sub-categories. They also needed a provincial score of 80 at the very least in order to qualify for an invitation. The chosen candidates will have to complete their application for provincial nomination within a month.
