British Columbia Hosts New Provincial Nominee Program Draw
British Columbia is one of the most favored provinces among immigrants looking to establish successful careers in Canada. Offering a host of valuable opportunities, the province has attracted thousands of people already this year.
Details of the draw
The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) has been organizing draws regularly in order to invite skilled candidates who will be able to make important contributions to the economy. The most recent draws took place on July 20 and the province issued a total of 383 invitations.
Canadians belonging to the Skills Immigration (SI) and Express Entry BC (EEBC) streams were especially targeted in this draw. British Columbia wanted to invite eligible candidates from the following subcategories: International Graduate, Skilled Worker, and Entry Level and Semi-Skilled. The selected candidates can now apply for a provincial nomination.
It is important to note that British Columbia has been organizing dual draws under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) since February. The first happens to be a general draw while the second caters to restaurant and food service managers as well as retail and wholesale trade managers. The reason behind organizing the second draw is that there are many people with these two professions registered under the SIRS. The two draws help to balance the needs of the provincial labor market.
For the July 20 draw, candidates in the general draw required a minimum score in the range of 75-91 points and 323 candidates were eligible to receive invitations. The second draw also included candidates from the EEBC and SI categories and issued a total of 60 invitations to those with scores of 107 and above.
