Manitoba new invitations for skilled workers and international graduates

An Expression of Interest draw was held on May 23, in which Manitoba issued invitations to 196 immigration candidates. They were invited to apply for a provincial nomination that would allow them to gain Canadian permanent residence in the near future. 196 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) were issued during the draw. 119 of them went to candidates who belonged to the Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream. The Skilled Workers Overseas candidates received 60 of the invitations.

The other 17 were issued to international graduates who belonged to Manitoba post-secondary institutions through the International Education Stream. With these invitations, the total number of invitations issued to skilled worker candidates in 2019 rises to 4,320.

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) lets Manitoba nominate immigration candidates who have skills that are required by employers belonging to the province. This gives them the ability to settle down quickly and establish themselves at a stable economic position. The MPNP is widely regarded as one of Canada’s most successful provincial nominee programs. It was created back in 1998, and till now, it has helped over 130,000 newcomers to settle in Manitoba.

Manitoba reported that 27 LAAs, which were issued in the May 23 draw, were assigned to Express Entry candidates who already had a job seeker validation code. The candidates who had previous experience in an occupation that is on Manitoba’s In-Demand Occupations List were prioritized.

The Skilled Workers Overseas Stream allows the MPNP to nominate eligible immigration candidates who are currently living outside Canada but have a firm connection to Manitoba through family, education, and work. The 60 Skilled Workers Overseas candidates who were given invitations during the May 23 draw were invited directly through the Strategic Recruitment Initiative.
Express Entry candidates who got a provincial nomination also had an additional 600 points added to their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.
