Alberta and Manitoba

In the recent rounds of provincial nominee programs (PNP), the provinces of Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, and Manitoba issued invitations to candidates. In Canada, there are a number of provincial and territorial nomination programs (PNPs). Under these programs, interested candidates may be invited to apply for their provincial nomination. Receiving a provincial nomination can be a valuable step toward attaining permanent residency.

There are a number of immigrant programs that are administered by the province of Quebec and are different from those that are administered by the federal government. Quebec is the only province that has control over all immigrants irrespective of their economic class.

A total of 105,000 PR admissions are made every year under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP). Since its inception in 1998, the number of PNP admissions has steadily increased. It has been viewed by both the federal and provincial governments as an effective tool for promoting economic development outside of urban areas.

Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) issued 893 ITAs to Express Entry candidates with provincial nominations during the same week. PNP candidates were targeted for the first time since June 2022 in this Express Entry draw.
