Family Sponsorship
What Will Parents And Grandparents Program Look Like This Year?
The pandemic, if nothing, has made us realize that we should not take our family for granted. Sometimes it is easy to get used to separation when we know that we can meet them anytime we want. However, 2020 restricted travel all over the world which meant that nobody could fly out to meet their family members living outside Canada.
The Parents and Grandparents Program has gained renewed importance in post-pandemic Canada because of the new emphasis on family reunification. Interested Canadians and permanent residents who expressed their interest to become sponsors for PGP 2020 are in the process of receiving their invitations.
IRCC conducted the lottery to choose the successful applicants just a few days back. The invitations will be issued within ten days.
PGP in 2020
According to IRCC, 10,000 applicants will be approved for the Parents And Grandparents Program 2020. All the proceedings were supposed to be completed by the end of last year, but the pandemic posed problems because of which IRCC is inviting the applications this late.
The PGP 2021 is going to be bigger than ever. If you missed out on the previous Expression of Interest window, you have nothing to worry about because you have another chance this year. Canada expressed a wish to accept 30,000 invitations for the PGP 2021 program which means that you will have a higher chance of getting selected.
Last year, Canada experienced low immigration figures because of the pandemic. The country is looking to increase its intake this year so that the economy can support the post-pandemic recovery. The Parents And Grandparents Program 2021 Expression of Interest window will open sometime later this year so you should keep your eyes peeled.
Meanwhile, the successful people who receive invitations for the PGP 2020 will have to submit all their documents within two months. They can get an extension in case they face delays in procuring official documents.
