What I need to know as an immigrant

There is entirely no farce in that Canada is a multicultural country. This then calls into question the extent of peoples’ social diversity and interactions. While the country appears so united in their diversity, there are little separations along language lines. From the province of Quebec to Ontario and others, their official languages are different.

While French is widely spoken in Quebec, English is more spoken in Ontario. This is not to mean anyway that English and French are not spoken in Quebec and Ontario respectively. Consequent to this, Canada is often referred to as an Anglo-French country. However, more languages other than English and French are spoken as well.

English

Although most people are bilingual because of the cultural diversity in the land, English remains the most commonly spoken language in Canada. In fact, 98 percent of Canadians can talk to you about in Basic English, French or both. If you speak English, then you are welcome to a second home.

French

This is the joint official language in Canada and the second most commonly spoken in there. Quebec is the province dominated with French-speaking tongues. It is not only the province though. There are communities outside the la belle province with a significant French-speaking population. If you still wonder why the Canadian government ensures it provides services in both English and French, this is why.

Mandarin

About 20 percent of Canadians speak a mother tongue other than French or English. Another 6.2 percent speak at least a language other than English or French as their primary home languages. Mandarin is one of those languages as it is widely spoken in the metropolitan area of the nation. This makes Canada a suitable base for Mandarin speaking Asian immigrants too.

Cantonese

You may have asked yourself why Chinese find Canada a suitable destination country. This might be because communication is a far easier thing for them in most of Canada cities as Cantonese is commonly spoken. If you know Cantonese too, you are free to join the immigrants in the land as communication wouldn’t be an issue at all.

Punjabi

This language is rated the fifth most commonly spoken language at home across Canada. In fact, it is the most frequently reported immigrants’ language in Vancouver, Edmonton, and Calgary. So if you know and speak Punjabi, any of the cities mentioned would suit you just perfectly.

Heads up! If you don’t know any of the above languages, you are not expected to be disappointed. At BetterPlace Immigration, we have investigated that the number of Canadians who speak more than one language is growing, and we can conveniently help to immigrate to the Canadian destination that suits your tongue.
