Immigration Announcement
The New UK immigration system versus Canadian immigration
Beginning from January 2021, it will be mandatory for candidates to have a work contract with a permit and be eligible under the new points system if they want to immigrate to the United Kingdom. Great Britain has decided to implement a points-based immigration system like Canada, but there are some significant differences that you should be aware about.
Last year, Boris Johnson, Prime Minister of the UK, campaigned for work visas to be awarded to people who have the equivalent of secondary education, good language skills, an assurance of employment, and a minimum annual wage. The new immigration law will allow the UK to prioritize highly skilled individuals like those with academic, scientific, and technological qualifications.
Requirements of the points-based system
The UK published the latest immigration system guidelines on July 13, and the country will change the current points-based immigration system from next year.
Foreign nationals who apply to work in the UK must fulfill some requirements once the new rules have been implemented. Individuals are going to be evaluated on the basis of their qualifications, skills, salaries, or occupations. Candidates with the requisite 70 points will be allowed to apply for the visa. A candidate is given 50 points for their English skills, and for securing a job offer in their field of expertise from an approved sponsor.
In order to get the rest of the points, candidates will have to satisfy some other criteria. They have to meet a minimum wage threshold, get a job in a profession with a labor shortage, or opt for a Ph.D. in a subject relevant to their work.
Summing up the new system

- Job offer (20 points)
