Quebec issued invitations to 305 skilled worker candidates through two Arrima draws

The Quebec immigration system has undergone a fair amount of changes in the last few months, but it might have finally reached a point of stability. Two Arrima draws were organized in December, and they led to the distribution of invitations amongst 305 candidates for immigration in Quebec. The draw was held on 17th December 2019, and it was the last one of the decade. A total of 220 invitations were given to candidates who had already submitted their applications for the Regular Skilled Worker Program in Quebec.

The candidates had either been exempt from the cap that had been in existence when they submitted their application under the Regular Skilled Worker Program, or they were residents of Quebec on the basis of a study or work permit on 16th June 2019. This was done specifically because about 16,000 Regular Skilled Worker Program applications had to be canceled on that date.

Before this draw, Quebec had issued invitations to 85 candidates earlier in December. The chosen candidates were required to submit their application, making them eligible for permanent selection. The December 12 cohort has two different categories of candidates. They could either show a valid offer of employment, or they were already residing in Quebec because of their official duties as consular officers, diplomats, or representatives in intergovernmental organizations. The Arrima system was launched back in July 2019, and since then, the province has organized nine draws. Overall, 2062 candidates have been invited to submit their applications for the Quebec Selection Certificate.

Quebec introduced the Arrima system back in 2018 in order to manage the pool of candidates under the QSWP once the program underwent its transformation from a paper-based “first-come, first-served” approach to the Expression of Interest system. Candidates can make their profiles in Arrima to express their interest.
