Immigration Announcement
PGP Will Return Next Year With More Opportunities
The Parents and Grandparents Program is one of the most popular immigration pilots to be ever introduced by Canada. This year’s Expression of Interest window closed just a few days back. IRCC is scheduled to hold a lottery and pick the lucky applicants who will then submit their applications.
It is important to remember that the expression of interest form is not the same as the application form. There are multiple steps when it comes to getting the green light for providing sponsorship.
What we know about 2021 PGP
The immigration department recently assured that the country will again opt for a randomized selection process for this program in 2021. The dates for next year’s Expression of Interest window have not been announced yet. However, we do know that they are going to accept 30,000 sponsors. If you applied this year but were not chosen in the lottery, you should submit your application again because there is a chance you will be considered again.
How does PGP work?
As for the 2020 intake, IRCC speculates that sponsors, parents, and grandparents will finish the application process in 2021. The new applications that will be submitted after the reopening of the program will automatically be placed in a queue after the existing PGP applicants.
Prospective sponsors can submit their application as well as the PR application package within 60 days after getting their invitation to apply. In case IRCC fails to contact the applicants or the chosen sponsors, they will send it via mail to the address given.
This program is definitely great for Canada’s family reunification goals and helps to meet the country’s massive immigration targets.
