Ontario PNP Issues 486 Invitations to Eligible Express Entry Candidates

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) is beneficial for provinces and territories in Canada that want to invite skilled workers to fill in the labor gaps. Invited candidates are allowed to apply for a provincial nomination which, if granted, can give them a competitive advantage over other candidates.

Eligibility requirements

The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) held its most recent draw on October 6 and invited a total of 486 eligible Express Entry candidates. The province targeted candidates in 18 specific occupations and invited them via the Human Capital Priorities Stream (HCP) stream. To get invited, Express Entry candidates were required to have CRS scores ranging from 463 to 467. They also had to have work experience in one of the listed occupations. These are a few of the occupations targeted by the province in this draw:

• Advertising, marketing and public relations managers
• Engineering managers
• Banking, credit and other investment managers
• Restaurant and food service managers
• Corporate sales managers
• Manufacturing managers
• Human resources professionals
• Mathematicians, statisticians and actuaries
• Medical laboratory technologists

The candidates who received the invitations might be able to secure a provincial nomination as long as they fulfill all the eligibility criteria. A provincial nomination will go a long way in supporting their permanent residency in the future. Since the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) works alongside the Express Entry system, provincial nominees are automatically awarded an extra 600 CRS points.

Ontario has issued 4,851 invitations to eligible immigration candidates so far in 2021 under this stream.
