The Canadian province of Ontario organized a new Tech draw recently in order to invite Express Entry candidates who will now be able to submit their application for a provincial nomination. The new PNP draw that took place on October 15 targeted Express Entry candidates who already have work experience in any one of the six tech occupations.
Details of the draw
The Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) distributed targeted Notifications of Interest (NOIs) among candidates who may have the qualifications for the Express Entry Human Capital Priorities (HCP) stream. During the Tech Draw, 772 principal applicants were given NOIs.
The Express Entry candidates were required to secure a Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score in the range between 462 and 470 in order to be eligible. Their work experience was in any one of the following occupations:
- NOC 2172 Database analysts and data administrators
- NOC 0213 Computer and information systems managers
- NOC 2173 Software engineers and designers
- NOC 2147 Computer engineers
- NOC 2175 Web designers and developers
- NOC 2174 Computer programmers and interactive media developers
It was not mandatory for the candidates to have a job offer in order to receive an invitation, but they needed one year of work experience in any of these occupations to qualify. Moreover, they also had to have a profile under the Express Entry system. The candidates who have received the nomination from Ontario will have an additional 600 CRS points added to their CRS score.
