Ontario Held its First PNP Draw for French-Speaking Express Entry Candidates in 2023

First PNP Draw for French-Speaking

On March 16, 2023, the province of Ontario, for the first time in 2023, invited French-speaking Express Entry candidates in its most recent PNP draw. The draw issued EOIs to 615 candidates of French-speaking skilled worker stream. It was on December 13, 2022, Ontario conducted its draw under the French-speaking skilled worker (FSSW) stream.

Highlights of the FSSW Draw – Who was invited?

In two separate lotteries that were held, candidates received Notifications of Interest (NOIs) on the same days.

Provincial Nomination Results for FSSW – Draw 1

With French-speaking skilled worker (FSSW) stream, a total number of 271 potential candidates with a minimum CRS score range between 291-489. The draw invited candidates with an Express Entry profile that were created between March 16, 2022 – March 16, 2023.

The province conducted a targeted draw and included the National Occupation Classification (NOC) codes by work experience. The draw targeted occupations mainly under tech, trades, and other in-demand occupations.

Note: The OINP’s current backlog of applications affects the scope and frequency of the Expression of Interest (NOI) selection. The draws are conducted every month having a few exceptions. Also, there is no prediction or announcement related to the dates of selection for the next Ontario on any PNP draw.

Provincial Nomination Results for FSSW – Draw 2

Ontario held the second draw on the same day and issued a total number of 344 notifications of interests (NOIs) with a CRS score ranging between 400-489. The draw 2 primarily targeted occupations mainly under health, educational occupations and finance administrators.

Please note that invited candidates have 45 days to submit their online provincial nomination applications.

An Overview of Ontario’s French-Speaking Skilled Worker Stream

The Federal Express Entry system for Canada is associated with the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) stream known as French-Speaking Skilled Worker (FSSW). Applicants who are chosen for the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program’s (OINP) human capital stream are invited to file an official application to seek for permanent residence in Canada. Applicants must have an active profile in one of the two Express Entry programs – Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), and Canadian Experience Class (CEC).

Foreign nationals cannot directly apply to the French-speaking skilled worker stream. The program is only open to those who have been invited. When applicants submit their Express Entry profiles, they are automatically included to the program’s pool of candidates. The candidates Ontario invites to apply will then receive a Notice of Interest (NOI) sent to their Express Entry accounts.
