Nova Scotia Nominee Program

The Canadian province of Nova Scotia has long been associated with successful and open immigration. Literally meaning “New Scotland,” Nova Scotia hosts the Pier 21 and has welcomed immigrants for centuries. In between the years 1928 and 1971, over a million immigrants arrived at Pier 21 by water. Also known as the “Gateway to Canada,” this immigrant reception center is now Canada’s Museum of Immigration.

A Maritime province boasting of over 7,000 kilometers of natural coastline, Nova Scotia is largely influenced by the Scottish/Celtic origins of its residents. The welcoming nature of Nova-Scotians makes the place popular among immigrants who want to find themselves a new home. In 2018, Nova Scotia welcomed a record number of permanent residents and attained its highest-ever population total.

In order to secure permanent citizenship in Nova Scotia, candidates have to go through the variety of streams that are associated with the Nova Scotia Provincial Nominee Program (NSNP). The program is designed to allow the province to choose skilled workers who will help the province progress and give them Canadian permanent residence. The NSNP offers some enhanced nomination streams which let the province to select talented workers who have a profile in the federal Express Entry system.
The Express Entry system is Canada’s primary provider of skilled foreign labor and manages a huge pool of candidates who are under categories such as the Federal Skilled Worker Class, the Canadian Experience and the Federal Skilled Trades Class.

The three enhanced streams in Nova Scotia are: Nova Scotia Demand, Nova Scotia Labor Market Priorities and Nova Scotia Experience.
