Manitoba PNP draw distributes 124 invitations
Manitoba organized its 91st Expression of Interest (EOI) draw on June 4 and invited 124 immigration candidates to apply for a provincial nomination. 9 invitations went to candidates with existing profiles in the Express Entry pool.
The provincial nomination helps candidates to get closer to attaining Canadian permanent residence. Skilled workers in Manitoba and abroad, along with international student graduates, were given the chance to apply for a provincial nomination.
The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) gave the invitations, also called Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs), to candidates in the following streams:
- Skilled Workers Overseas: 21
- Skilled Workers in Manitoba: 84
- International Education Stream: 19
Manitoba has issued 2,154 LAAs issued to immigration candidates in 2020 already.
Manitoba’s Expression of Interest system requirements
Candidates must register an EOI with the MPNP if they want to receive invitations to apply for a provincial nomination from the province via the Skilled Workers Overseas and Skilled Workers in Manitoba categories. An EOI acts as an online profile that is then ranked out of 1,000 points on the basis of the candidate’s education, connections to Manitoba, work experience, and language proficiency.
Candidates should have an established connection with the province in order to qualify. However, it is not compulsory for them to be physically present in Manitoba when applying.
The Skilled Workers Overseas Category gives the MPNP an opportunity to pick skilled foreign workers from the immigration pool and nominate them in order to fill the gaps in Manitoba’s labor market. The candidates who qualify via the Skilled Workers in Manitoba category should have a full-time job offer from an employer in the province.
The latest draw saw Manitoba issuing invitations to candidates in the Skilled Workers in Manitoba Stream if they had a minimum score of 523. On the other hand, the lowest-ranked candidate to receive an invitation in the Skilled Workers Overseas Stream had a score of 703.
