Manitoba Conducts New MPNP Draw for Skilled Worker Overseas Stream Candidates
On June 25, 2024, Manitoba held its latest draw, #222, under the Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP). This draw focused on the Skilled Worker Overseas (SWO) stream and saw a notable reduction in the minimum required score. The province extended 250 Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs) to eligible candidates, including 93 candidates through the Express Entry system.
Significantly, the minimum required score in this draw dropped to 516 points, a substantial decrease of 205 points from the previous SWO draw. This reduction marks an encouraging trend for potential applicants, making it more accessible for skilled workers to qualify for the program.
In 2024, the MPNP has already invited 4,908 candidates across various streams, with 732 of those receiving invitations through the Express Entry system. The continued focus on the Skilled Worker Overseas stream highlights Manitoba’s commitment to attracting a diverse range of skilled professionals to support the province’s economic growth and development.
This latest draw underscores Manitoba’s proactive approach in adjusting its immigration thresholds to respond to the evolving needs of its labor market. By lowering the minimum required score, Manitoba is broadening the pool of eligible candidates, ensuring that more skilled workers have the opportunity to contribute to the province’s vibrant economy.
The MPNP plays a crucial role in Manitoba’s immigration strategy, facilitating the entry of skilled workers who can fill labor market gaps and enhance the province’s workforce. With ongoing adjustments and targeted draws, Manitoba continues to position itself as an attractive destination for skilled immigrants from around the world.
