Express Entry Candidates

Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) held its third round of invitations in a row. The draw issued invitations to 1,500 candidates with a minimum CRS score of 463 to apply for permanent residence. The draw was the third in the month of July with the lowest CRS score in 2023.

The healthcare category draw was anticipated after the IRCC said last week that 1,500 healthcare employees would receive invites this week. This came after the first-ever category-based draw on June 28, in which ITAs were awarded to 500 healthcare employees with a minimum CRS of 476.

Immigrants make up 23% of licenced practical nurses, 36% of licenced physicians, and 54% of dental technologists in Canada. Canada depends on immigration to close critical labour market gaps. According to Statistics Canada’s most recent data on job openings, the healthcare and social support sectors had 153,000 open positions in April 2023. The number of openings is at its highest level across all industries.

Following the first-ever invites sent to STEM job seekers on July 5, today’s draws are the next step in the process. A total of 500 STEM candidates with a minimum CRS score of 486 were invited in yesterday’s round of invitations

In a surprise all-program draw on July 4, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) additionally invited 700 applicants with a minimum CRS score of 511 to participate.

The New Selection Categories were Introduced by IRCC, and 82 Jobs were Eligible

IRCC said on May 31 that it would begin holding lotteries later in the summer for Express Entry candidates who fell into six additional categories. The creation of these six new categories presents enticing chances for potential immigrants to live out their aspirations of immigrating to Canada and finding employment there. In the future, candidates for Express Entry will be given preference in the following streams if they have a strong command of French or relevant work experience:

The Categories Include:

  • Healthcare
  • Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics Professions
  • Carpenters, Plumbers, and Contractors
  • Transport
  • Agriculture and Agri-Food
