Flights From The United Kingdom Banned Among COVID-19 Strain

With a new strain of coronavirus being discovered in the United Kingdom, the world is panicking yet again. Many countries are banning flights coming from the United Kingdom in the hope to keep their situation under control.
Canada has also chosen to go down this path and is banning all flights coming from the United Kingdom. The rule was implemented on December 20, 2020. Canada does not want to take any chances when it comes to the safety of its citizens.
New announcement to control the virus
The announcement was made on Twitter by many government officials. Bill Blair, the minister of public safety, and Justin Trudeau, the Prime Minister, support this measure.
According to Blair, this action is to protect Canadian communities and ensure safety. Public health officials have advised in favor of this measure. To begin with, the restrictions will be applicable for 72 hours, after which they will be extended depending on the situation.
The Canadian government has clarified that the spread of the new strain of the coronavirus is the main reason behind the suspension of travel. While there is still a lot to know about the new strain and its implications, the country does not want to take a risk. The Canadian COVID-19 Genomics Network received an investment of $40 million from the government to analyze the genetic variations of the disease.
Apart from a few exemptions, Canada is not allowing travelers who want to enter the country for non-essential reasons. Most travelers have to stay quarantined for fourteen days after arrival.
