Canada’s recent caregiver immigration pilots Program

The Canadian government recently came up with two brand new caregiver immigration pilots. If you were looking to apply, then you will be happy to know that they are now accepting applications.

The two previous pilots, Caring for Children and Caring for People with High Medical Needs are being replaced by the newly introduced pilots, namely the Home Child Care Provider Pilot and the Home Support Worker Pilot. The purpose of both these pilots is to give eligible caregivers a chance to pave their way towards the permanent residence in Canada. The only requirement is that the candidates must have acquired two years of work experience in Canada.

The applications which were submitted to the Caring for Children and Caring for People with High Medical Needs pilots prior to 18th June will still be taken into consideration and processed, but the government has altogether stopped accepting applications for any of these pilots.

In order to qualify for the Home Child Care Provider and Home Support Worker pilots and get work permits, the caregiver must already have a job offer in Canada.

They should also fulfill the following conditions:

  • They should have a Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) of 5 in English or French as proven by language tests.
  • They should have a year of post-secondary education in Canada or hold any foreign equivalent degree.
  • They must be admissible to Canada.

The caregivers who are currently working in Canada on a work permit will also be able to apply for permanent residence in Canada as long as they meet the given criteria in the new pilots. Moreover, caregivers who have work experience in the National Occupational Classification 4411 can also apply for permanent residence via the Home Child Care Provider Pilot.

Caregivers in the profession NOC 4412 (excluding housekeepers) can apply for permanent residence via the Home Support Worker Pilot.
