Canada to discontinue all COVID-19 travel Restrictions from October 1st
The Canadian Government has announced to pull out all the vaccine requirements for travellers to Canada. The travellers who are planning to fly to Canada need not show any evidence of COVID-19 vaccination.
Earlier in June, random COVID-19 tests were ongoing for people who were planning to fly to Canada. But if you’re flying to Canada this October 2022, you must know that random COVID-19 testing even for fully-vaccinated international travellers in Canada has been removed. Therefore, travellers need not get tested before making an entry into Canada.
The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) issues that from October 1, 2022, all travellers except for proving citizenship, need not provide any proof of the following:
- COVID-19 vaccination
- Submission of Public health information through the ArriveCAN app
- Random COVID-19 testing- Pre or on-arrival
- COVID-19 quarantine document
- Report showing signs or symptoms of COVID-19 while travelling to Canada
In addition, Canadian travellers can travel on flights and trains without masks. The decision to remove travel restrictions in Canada is because of high-reaching rates of vaccinated Canadians with 90% rates, death rates, robust health infrastructure, lower rates of hospitalization and scope to use large numbers of vaccine boosters. However, the Canadian government still urges travellers to continue wearing masks and other health safety precautions.
Health Minister Jean –Yves Duclos says, “Thanks largely to Canadians who have rolled up their sleeves to get vaccinated, now we have reached the point where we can safely lift the sanitary measures at the border”. In addition, he continues, “we expect COVID-19 and other respiratory viruses will continue to circulate over the cold months, so I still encourage everyone to stay aware with their COVID-19 vaccination, including individual public health measures and booster doses.
Optional Use of the ArriveCan App
The routine use of the ArriveCan app has become non-compulsory for international travellers. Now, travellers have the liberty to travel without any hassle of proving and uploading their travel plans and vaccination proof to the Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) agents.
Suspension of Vaccination Requirements for Domestic Travel
As of last June, Canada has declared to have no vaccination requirements for domestic travel. The Canadian government officially announced better health results and high-reaching vaccinated Canadians against COVID-19, its prime reasons.
