Canada Held Third Express Entry Draw of 2021 with 471 CRS
Canada has begun organizing regular draws to invite skilled candidates into the country. While 2020 was definitely not the best year for immigration, it has not taken away Canada’s desire to boost its immigration.
The third Express Entry draw of the new year already took place on January 20. Within three weeks, Canada has hosted three successful Express Entry draws. Canadian immigration is heavily dependent on the Express Entry pathway which is targeted towards foreign workers who want to become permanent residents in the country.
Details of the draw
During the December 20 draw, IRCC issued invitations to 374 candidates from the Provincial Nominee Program or PNP. The minimum required score for the candidates was 741. The requirement is on the higher side because provincial nominees usually receive 600 extra CRS points.
The Canadian provinces use the PNP to shortlist candidates who will be able to meet the specific needs of their labor market. The chosen candidates can apply for a provincial nomination and are awarded points if they are successful.
Before this, Canada issued 250 invitations among PNP applicants on January 6 and 4750 invitations among CEC candidates on January 7.
Canada introduced the 2021-2013 Immigration Levels Plan in the latter half of 2020 aiming to make up for the immigration losses suffered due to the pandemic. The country is planning to invite around 110,000 immigrants every year via Express Entry.
Candidates who are interested in submitting their names to the Express Entry pool should make a profile after which they will be assigned a score based on their educational qualifications, job experience, and language abilities.
