British Columbia PNP issues invitations to 87 immigration candidates
Canadian provinces have been trying to keep their immigration process ongoing even in the current situation. The country had to impose temporary travel restrictions because of the pandemic in order to reduce the spread of the virus.
British Columbia has been hosting draws consistently. The recent Tech Pilot draw that was organized on June 9 saw British Columbia inviting 87 candidates. The minimum score required for the candidates to qualify was 82. This new Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) draw has given the 87 candidates a chance to submit their application for a provincial nomination.
The Provincial Nominee Program in British Columbia issued invitations to immigration candidates belonging to the Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC categories. Each category recorded a minimum score of 82. Candidates who are looking to get an invitation via the Express Entry BC category should ensure that they have profiles registered in the federal Express Entry database.
Role of Express Entry
This system is the backbone of the federal government’s immigration system. Express Entry candidates are awarded points on the basis of human capital factors like age, education, work experience, and language proficiency. The candidates who manage to secure a provincial nomination are given an additional 600 CRS points that are added to their CRS score. They will benefit from this reward during the subsequent federal Express Entry draw and have significantly higher odds of receiving an Invitation to Apply (ITA) for permanent residence in Canada.
Tech Pilot Update
British Columbia has decided to extend the Tech Pilot for one more year until June 2021. With the help of this pilot, the province has been able to welcome foreign tech workers who have a job offer in any of the 29 occupations specified. It is mandatory that the job offer is at least one year long, and there is a minimum of 120 days left in the job offer when the candidate applies.
