British Columbia Immigration For Express Entry

British Columbia recently issued invitations to new candidates belonging to the Skills Immigration, Express Entry BC, and Entrepreneur streams. The province invited 46 immigration candidates, and they will now be able to apply for a provincial nomination. This will help them in their journey towards attaining permanent residence.

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) Tech Pilot draw in British Columbia picked 34 candidates belonging to the Skills Immigration and Express Entry BC categories. The selected candidates from the Skilled Worker or the International Graduate categories needed to have a provincial score of at least 80.

Importance of the Tech Pilot

The BC PNP Tech Pilot was introduced as a fast-track immigration pathway, and it caters to international students and in-demand tech workers. It operates via the existing provincial immigration streams. Candidates who want to be eligible for this program should have a valid job offer spanning at least 12 months in any of the Tech Pilot’s 29 eligible occupations.

Prospective candidates have to create a profile via the BC PNP’s online portal, and they have to register under the Skills Immigration Registration System (SIRS) if they are planning to apply for the Express Entry BC or Skills Immigration categories. The BC PNP also distributed 12 ITAs for candidates in the Entrepreneur Immigration stream.

How are candidates assessed?

All the applicants are evaluated on the basis of factors like work experience, educational development, language proficiency, and location of employment. The Express Entry candidates who manage to secure a nomination from the province will be awarded an extra 600 points that will be added to the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score.
