British Columbia Invites 34 Candidates in New Tech Draw
There is no doubt that British Columbia has emerged as one of the top picks for immigrants looking to settle permanently in one of the Canadian provinces. To keep up with the demand and eliminate the labor gaps in the provincial market, British Columbia has been organizing invitation rounds regularly in 2021.
Details of the draw
The province held the most recent invitation round on September 7 via the Tech Draw. The selected candidates are now eligible to apply for a provincial nomination. The British Columbia Provincial Nominee Program (BC PNP) issued a total of 34 invitations to qualified candidates. Candidates from the International Graduate and Skilled Worker subcategories received invitations.
The provincial score cutoff for candidates to be eligible was 80. Candidates who are invited via the B.C Tech draws also have to satisfy the eligibility requirements of either the Skills Immigration or the Express Entry BC categories. The British Columbia draw has invited more than 8000 invitations to apply for provincial nomination in 2021.
What is the Tech Draw?
The British Columbia PNP Tech draw was introduced in 2017 as a pilot project to remedy the technology sector’s lack of access to talent. The pilot enjoyed immense success, and British Columbia decided to turn it into a permanent program only recently. It acts as an immigration pathway for international workers and in-demand tech workers. They need to have a valid job offer spanning at least a year in any of the 29 eligible professions. The program allows employers in the technology sector to continue to hire talented international workers readily.
