Manitoba PNP distributes invitations among 213 immigration candidates

On August 28, Manitoba decided to hold a new draw in order to invite skilled workers who can benefit the province. A total of 213 candidates were invited to apply for a provincial nomination.

Details of the draw

The Manitoba Provincial Nominee Program (MPNP) issued invitations to eligible international student graduates and skilled workers via three immigration streams: Skilled Workers Overseas, Skilled Workers in Manitoba, and International Education streams.

The invitations given to candidates by provinces are also called Letters of Advice to Apply (LAAs). They were distributed in the following pattern among the streams based on their respective Expression of Interest (EOI) score requirement:

• Skilled Workers Overseas— 8 LAAs; Minimum score of 824;
• Skilled Workers in Manitoba— 171 LAAs; Minimum score of 475;
• International Education Stream— 34 LAAs; No minimum score requirement;

So far, in 2020, Manitoba has invited 3,299 immigration candidates belonging to these categories.

Should you belong to the Express Entry pool?

During the August 28 draw, 23 LAAs were assigned to candidates who had a valid profile registered in the federal Express Entry system. Once the candidates are eligible for the Express Entry pool, they are assigned a specific Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score based on certain factors like age, education, language skills, and work experience.

Having a provincial nomination can be very helpful if you are interested in becoming a permanent citizen. Provinces award successful nominees with an additional 600 CRS points, as a result of which they are much more likely to receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) from IRCC.
