Immigration Announcement
Submit Your Proof of Canadian Citizenship Application Virtually!
The pandemic has forced Canada to streamline the immigration services online. Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) is trying to simplify certain processes for people. In a recent development, Canada has announced that it will now accept requests for proof of citizenship online. This means that you will be able to submit your application online and get the document as soon as possible.
New Portal Options
To submit an application, you have to visit the IRCC online portal. You can fill out the application, pay the fees, and upload other supporting documents required to process your request. IRCC has also made it possible for you to take other actions with the help of this new portal. You can request a search of citizenship records or a replacement proof-of-citizenship or citizenship certificate. You will also be allowed to submit straightforward claims for proof of citizenship by descent on this portal.
According to IRCC, online applications will help save time and effort on the part of candidates. This option will be especially helpful for people who are outside Canada and have to visit an embassy in person to submit applications for these documents.
If you have submitted a paper application already, do not worry because the Canadian government is planning to continue processing paper applications. You can still submit paper applications if you are a new candidate. However, there is no need to complete an online application if you have already submitted a paper application.
