Prince Edward Island Hosts PNP Draw to Invite Skilled Workers
All Canadian provinces are currently focusing on inviting eligible skilled workers who will be able to benefit the economy.
Prince Edward Island has made the details of its most recent draw available. The province held the draw on February 18 and invited candidates belonging to Express Entry, Business Impact and Labour Impact categories. Chosen candidates will now have the opportunity of submitting an application for a provincial nomination.
The Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program or PEI PNP lets the province choose immigration candidates who will be able to meet their specific labor market needs from the Express Entry pool. A total of 121 candidates received invitations during the draw. Labor Impact and Express Entry candidates received 102 invitations while Business Impact candidates got 19 invitations. The minimum point threshold for the latter was 82.
Details of the categories
The Express Entry category under PEI PNP acts as an enhanced PNP which means that it works in conjunction with the federal Express Entry system. Express Entry candidates who are interested in becoming permanent residents of Prince Edward Island will have to make an EOI profile which can then be marked by the province based on their points grid.
The Labour Impact category targets foreign nationals who have already secured a job offer in Prince Edward Island. The candidates receive support from their employers making it easier for them to integrate into the economy.
Lastly, the Business Impact category aims to attract foreign entrepreneurs who wish to own and run a business in the province.
