Permanent residents and Permit holders will be allowed to go back to Canada
Canada has finally released all the details of the process following which foreign professionals can return to Canada in spite of border closures. The country has finally addressed the uncertainties that had been floating around since the announcement of the first travel ban order. Now, the government has publicly announced the specific conditions and terms that foreigners would have to follow if they have work or education commitments in Canada. The rules will also apply to permanent residents.
The immigration ministry of the country has made it clear that only certain groups of people will be able to enter the country during the coronavirus pandemic. They have also clarified that the travelers will have to carry certain documents that have to be provided to airlines. The airline authority will be in charge of accepting or rejecting the passenger.
How can they come back?
Foreign workers and international students had been waiting for this update eagerly so they could come back into the country and continue with their lives. The closure of the border also meant that Canadians who had gone for a vacation could not come back on time.
International students who have a valid Canadian study permit or the ones who had already been enrolled at a Designated Educational Institution (DEI) in the country before the travel restrictions came into effect will be able to go back to Canada. The Immigration Refugee and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has told these foreign nationals to provide self-identification at the airlines before the boarding process begins.
They would also have to show a valid study permit. Alternatively, a letter of introduction dated on or before March 18, 2020, from the government would also serve the purpose. Temporary workers who had begun working in Canada or had just planned their trip to Canada after getting a job can come back into the country as well.
